The Milo and Moose Show Episode 18: Artifical Intelligence

Podcast | Episode Description

In this episode of The Milo and Moose Show, Milo and Moose are joined by their good friend Dan to discuss artificial intelligence and related technology.

They begin by discussing "the singularity", or the point at which artificial intelligence exponentially surpasses human intelligence, before Dan shares an impromptu review of Independence Day. After this they discuss how we might hope to both identify and define AI, before looking at how AI might be both understood and misunderstood through the lens of evolution.

They finish with an obligatory discussion about the ultimate tech dream of being able to download knowledge, as well as musing on the impact technology could have on capitalism.

It's a big episode, one of the biggest they have done to date, which is fitting as this will be the last episode for a while. Keep tabs on their Soundcloud, Twitter and blog for future updates on their eventual return.

Milo, Moose and Dan out.

P.S. There was a lot of unexpected background noise and interference in this episode, so apologies in advance.

The Milo and Moose Show Episode 16: Mike "What a Bizarre Individual" Tyson

Podcast | Episode Description

Mike Tyson and Cus D'Amato

In this episode of The Milo and Moose Show, Milo and Moose discuss one of the most divisive figures in recent sports history: Iron Mike Tyson.

They begin with his early life (his VERY early life), before going on to discuss his relationship with Cus D'Amato and struggles with drugs, sex and Don King (aka Dom King, Donkin, King Dom, Dominic King). They finish with an admiring glance at his recent rehabilitation and successes outside of the ring.

His story is an incredible one of finding some sort of stability amongst the highs and lows of success and despair, and is one we hope you enjoy!

Most of the information shared in this episode can be found in 'Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth' by Mike Tyson, and the podcast referenced was The Bill Simmons Podcast Ep 77: Jim Lampley.

The Milo and Moose Show Episode 9: Super Powered Me

Podcast | Episode Description

In this episode of The Milo and Moose Show, Milo, Moose and Joe are discussing superpowers. They begin by trying to decide what their ideal superpower would be, before then breaking down what the worst ones are.

After this they discuss what "real life" superpowers, or talents, they would like to have. Would it be awesome to be a human lie detector? Conversely imagine if you could convincingly lie to anyone about anything?

They finish by chatting about whether they would choose to go under the knife, if these kinds of superpowers could be implanted through surgery.

Which superpowers would you like to have? Are we too hard on Hawkeye? Would you prefer to be the best detective in the world or Leonardo Dicaprio? Let us know!

The Milo and Moose Show Episode 8: Is Cheating Inhumane or Simply Beating the Game?

Podcast | Episode Description

This episode of The Milo and Moose Show is best described as a cautionary tale against recording an episode when you are exhausted! There will be much rambling, swearing and lewd jokes. If you are offended by sexual humour, then it might be best to avoid this one...
If you are not, then step into this discussion about cheating and cheaters. Milo and Moose begin by discussing times in their past when they have themselves cheated, before moving on to discuss their favourite stories of people trying to get ahead by less than honourable means. They’ll finish with a debate (of sorts) about whether cheating is simply a case of getting ahead, or is always going to be an example of the inhumane or unacceptable.

What are some of your favourite stories of cheating? Have you ever cheated and gotten away with it? Let us know!

The Milo and Moose Show Episode 6: Are You Sure You Want To Win The Lottery?

Podcast | Episode Description

In this episode of The Milo and Moose Show, Milo and Moose discuss winning the big one, the jackpot, the big enchilada, the luckiest dip, the golden handshake from the BBC, otherwise known as The National Lottery (for those who don't speak like an animated character).

They begin by discussing what they would do if they won the lottery, before going on to discuss whether a lottery win would make life easier or not. They finish the episode by debating whether it's even worth hoping you'll win the lottery, and whether this kind of hope is a good or bad thing to have.

What would you do if you won the lottery? Would you crash and burn after eight years? Would you buy a jetpack? Is blind hope a dangerous thing to have? And who wins the ultimate battle royale between a Killer Whale, a Great White Shark or THE MEGALODON.

And as always people, share your thoughts!

The Milo and Moose Show Episode 6 Preview

Podcast | Preview

Our next episode will be on the lottery, or more specifically, whether it's actually a good thing to win it!

There are numerous reports of lottery winners ending up worse off, both emotionally and financially, after getting the golden ticket. Nevertheless, people still keep playing, and they keep praying that they will win. I myself play the lottery every so often and I do find myself wondering:

"Am I sure I want to win?"

After all, going from seeing a couple of hundred in your bank account to seeing a cool, clean million is not a casual thing at all.

In this upcoming episode we will be discussing what we would do if we had the winning ticket, before then chatting about the positives and negatives of a win. We'll be looking to finishing off the episode with a discussion about whether the lottery is the ultimate “golden ticket” to a happy life i.e. is it the bastion of hope and the miracle elixir it can sometimes appear to be?

We'll be recording and releasing our next episode Sunday 20th December so keep your eyes on us.

The Milo and Moose Show Episode 5: Can Two Plus Two Ever Equal Five?

Podcast | Episode Description

Welcome to the first episode of The Milo and Moose Show! The renamed podcasting arm of the supple, big and bountiful body of The Patient Approach enterprise. Gosh that was a bit unwieldy to type…

Anyway in this episode, Milo and Moose discuss George Orwell's novel 1984. They begin by talking about their favourite parts of the novel, before then sharing their views on the "two minutes’ hate". After this they discuss the various instances of fear throughout the novel that they connected with, before finally answering the question: can 2+2=5?

Would you give in to Big Brother? Would you end up "loving" Big Brother? And can 2+2=5?

Please, please, please share your thoughts and like and follow us wherever that may be!

The Patient Approach Podcast Episode 4: The Police, a Force or a Service?

Podcast | Episode Description

In this episode of The Patient Approach, Oggy returns wearing a mysterious cap (correction: beanie) to find Milo and Moose involved in a more serious discussion than usual. The topic being whether the police is a force or a service, or rather, does the police control and corral or protect and serve?

The three compare and contrast the UK and US police services, ultimately with the aim of sharing their thoughts on whether both units are "services" or "forces".

From their research they have found that many people either distrust or are ambivalent towards the police, and they try to come to an understanding as to why this might be, and whether this is fair perspective to have.

In light of recent events over the last few years this is quite a serious topic and we would love to hear whether you agree with us, disagree or have any suggestions about what we could discuss next.

Note: The Hillsborough disaster sadly claimed 96 lives and occurred in Sheffield in a match between Liverpool FC and Nottingham Forest. Apologies about an error in this episode, wherein Milo mistakenly said 92 people passed away in Liverpool.

The Dinner Party: Oggy's Chosen Six

Podcast | Oggy

It is with disappointment that I was unable to attend this week's edition of The Patient Approach, due to a nasty cold that has left me incapacitated (funny word isn't it? makes you think of those talking heads in futurama). Below are the six people who I would have invited to the dinner party.

Skanderbeg - Albania's national hero and a strategic military genius. He rejected a top position in the Ottoman ranks to liberate his supressed Albanian countrymen. And despite destroying Ottoman opposition for 25 years, in the end he was biten by a mosquito and died of malaria. Such is life.

Ghengis Khan - One of the most powerful short men in history. His reign of power was such that his main depression in life was that he could not achieve immortality. He spent a significant time consulting shamans and trying to find some kind of 'elixer' which could make him live forever, as he was not sufficiently content with conquering half of the world and impregnating possibly thousands of women.

Ike Ibeabuchi - Whilst most people instantly imagine Mike Tyson when thinking of a crazed heavyweight boxer, Ike was a respective alternative (don't we all love knowing of an alternative to the standard?). Standing at 6"4' and with a herculian physique, he remained undefeated but would become insane during the later part of his career, believing, amongst other things, that he was THE president(??). His mental deterioration did not require a psychological assessment any more than it did a quick viewing of his close and extremely brutal fight with David Tua, regarded by many to be a classic. Although correlation doesn't mean causation, he just so happened to have developed symptoms after a fight wherein he took hundreds of power punches to the head. Mike 'I'll eat your children' Tyson versus Ike 'I am seeing demons' Ibeabuchi remains a fantasy fight of the highest order.

Angelina Jolie - She has long maintained her image as the sexy hollywood sweatheart. But behind her on screen performances I sensed a more sinister character. Indeed, my instincts were confirmed when I read about her younger years and how erratic and highly psychopathic she was. For instance, in her earlier relationships she would cut her scared boyfriend with a knife. All I want to say here is that if you had done that to me, Angelina, I would have joyfully cut you right back, and thrown you around the room, and possibly even punched you in the eye before tapping that psychopathic ass of yours.

Cam'ron - Cam'ron AKA Killa Kam is a rapper hailing out of Harlem, New York. He was the leader of the rap group 'The Diplomats' AKA Dipset and is to be noted for his laid back and comedic rapping style, as well as having personally coined the phrase 'no homo' (which has since gone global). He was also fashionably brazen and was noted for his use of pink furr.

Stanley Kubrick - In a few words, a film director who we can objectively say was ahead of his time, possibly by a generational margin. Few can deny the brilliance of his works, which continue to impress modern viewers even today.

So there we have it. Those are my six. Who knows how they may have interacted in this fictional dinner party. Would they have attempted a conversation, however difficult, or would they have simply sat there, and eaten their food, like in some kind of dazed, post humanistic trance, sort of like the ending scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey. We can only imagine.
